EORI Number

The EORI number (Economic Operators Registration and Identification Number) is a European Union registration and identification number for companies engaged in the import or export of goods to or from the EU. For imports of bulk goods from China, this number is required. It normally takes 1-2 days to receive this EORI number and is free to apply for. If your company does not want to import goods, Scale Roads can help by being the importing company.

VAT Article 23

If you are importing goods from a non-EU country, you will have to pay VAT. You normally do this at customs with the so-called import declaration. You deduct this VAT as import tax in your VAT declaration form if you are entitled to deduct VAT. You can also report the VAT on import in your VAT return. You must then apply in writing to your tax office for a Section 23 permit. You do not have to pay VAT at customs. Instead, you mention the VAT in your VAT return. Are you entitled to deduct VAT? Then you can also deduct this VAT as input tax in your tax return. You then pay nothing on the balance. Importing bulk goods from China does not require an Article 23, but it does have a positive effect on your cash flow. Applying for an Article 23 is free and takes about 5-6 weeks.
